Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW) is a one-day, six-hour training course to help first raiders at work learn the skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies in the workplace.
Our Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed to meet the requirements set by the Health and Safety Executive for first aid in the workplace. It is suitable for individuals who need their initial EFAW certificate or those who need to refresh their qualification.
This course is widely recognized as a level 2 first aid qualification. The training provided covers a range of essential first aid skills that are specifically tailored for low-hazard workplaces such as offices, shops, and call centers.
By acquiring these skills, first aiders will be able to respond quickly and confidently to injuries and illnesses, while also being able to identify when professional medical assistance is necessary.
In the event that your needs assessment reveals a need for additional first aid training, such as having employees with medical conditions, we highly recommend our 3-day First Aid at Work course.
This comprehensive course will equip participants with the skills to recognize and treat a wider range of injuries and medical conditions.
The roles and responsibilities of a first-aider involve providing immediate and primary medical care to individuals injured or suddenly ill until professional medical help arrives. The primary goals are to preserve life, prevent the situation from worsening, and promote recovery. Here are the key roles and responsibilities of a first-aider:

The specific duties of a first-aider may vary depending on the training received and the regulations in their region. First-aiders need to act within the scope of their training and seek additional assistance when needed.
Assessing a casualty involves quickly evaluating the person’s condition to determine the severity of injuries and the appropriate course of action. This assessment uses the DRABC approach, which stands for Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, and Circulation.
First Aid Training Bradford provides a step-by-step guide on how to administer this practice.
If someone is unresponsive and not breathing, it is a critical emergency, and immediate action is crucial. First Aid Training Bradford will take you through the steps to provide essential life support and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
If you witness someone having a seizure in your workplace, it can be a frightening experience, but it’s essential to stay calm and take appropriate actions to help ensure the person’s safety. First Aid Training Bradford will instruct you on how to deal with a person having a seizure.
If someone is choking, it’s crucial to act quickly. First Aid Training Bradford will introduce you to the Heimlich maneuver, also known as abdominal thrusts, to help deal with someone who is choking in the workplace.
If someone is bleeding heavily, it’s essential to act quickly to control the bleeding and seek medical help. First Aid Training Bradford will show you the steps to take for first aid in the case of severe bleeding.
If someone suffers from shock, it’s essential to take immediate action. Shock is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body is not getting enough blood flow, leading to a lack of oxygen to vital organs. Common causes of shock include severe bleeding, trauma, or sudden illness.
First Aid Training Bradford will take you through the steps to follow if you suspect someone is in shock
If someone suffers from burns, taking immediate action to minimize further injury and provide appropriate first aid is essential. Burns can range from mild to severe, and the response may vary depending on the extent and depth of the burn. First Aid Training Bradford will teach you the general guidelines for providing first aid for burns.
Monitoring a casualty involves continuously assessing their condition and providing appropriate care. First Aid Training Bradford provides training and the key steps to monitor a casualty.
Electric shock can result from exposure to electrical currents and range from mild to severe. First Aid Training Bradford will take you through the steps if someone experiences an electric shock.
Hypovolemic shock is a medical emergency that occurs when there is a significant loss of blood or other fluids from the body, leading to a decrease in circulating blood volume. This condition can result from severe bleeding due to injury, surgery, or internal bleeding, as well as from other causes such as dehydration, burns, or severe vomiting and diarrhea.
First Aid Training Bradford will take you through the critical aspects of managing hypovolemic shock.
Learners undergo continuous assessment throughout the course through practical demonstrations, interactive Q&A sessions, quizzes, and stimulating activities such as role-playing. These activities are specifically designed to support and guide learners in acquiring the essential skills and to ensure they can competently apply their knowledge in their workplaces.
The acronym EFAW represents Emergency First Aid at Work, which is a certification that can be obtained within a day. This particular qualification is specifically tailored to equip individuals working in low-risk environments with the necessary knowledge and abilities to effectively handle a first aid emergency.
The course is done in a single day. The duration of the course is between 9 am and 4:30 pm. There will be short breaks and dinner break.
Once a learner has completed [EFAW], you will receive a certificate, and it will be valid for three years.
This course is designed to cater to workplaces that do not have any specific risks or illnesses identified in their first aid needs assessment. It is particularly well-suited for small-scale and low-risk environments like shops and offices, making it an ideal choice for such workplaces
The EFAW and FAW courses differ in terms of their duration and the level of training they provide. The 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is specifically tailored for individuals working in small or low-risk environments.
It focuses on equipping first-aiders with the necessary skills to handle basic emergencies. On the other hand, the 3-day First Aid at Work qualification is intended for individuals working in larger or higher-risk environments.
This comprehensive course covers a wider range of illnesses and emergencies, providing participants with a more in-depth understanding of first-aid techniques and protocols.
