TURFING SECOND PART

Laying the Turf

Start at one end

We will begin laying the turf rolls from one end of the lawn area. They will unroll the first piece of turf along a straight edge or boundary, such as a path or driveway, to ensure a neat and straight alignment.

Continue laying

We will unroll the subsequent pieces of turf, staggering the joints like brickwork to avoid visible seams.  They will gently press the edges of adjacent turf rolls together, ensuring they fit snugly without overlapping or leaving gaps.

Cutting and shaping

Landscape Gardener Bilton will use a sharp utility knife or turf cutter to trim the turf to fit around obstacles like trees, flower beds, or curvatures in the lawn.

Watering

As Landscape Gardener Bilton lay each section of turf, lightly water it to prevent it from drying out. They will avoid overwatering, which can cause the turf to shift or become uneven.

Finishing Touches

Rolling

Once all the turf is in place, we will use a lawn roller filled with water to roll over the entire area gently.

Watering and maintenance

We will thoroughly water the newly laid turf after installation to encourage root growth. Keep the turf consistently moist during the establishment period, which usually takes a few weeks.

Avoid heavy use

Limit foot traffic on the new turf until it fully grows. Avoid mowing until the grass has rooted well and reached a suitable height.

Regular maintenance

Once the turf has grown, maintain it by mowing, watering, fertilizing, and addressing any weeds or pests according to the specific needs of the grass variety you’ve chosen.
